SCZESNAK NAMED PRESIDENT OF SHOPPERS CHARGE ACCOUNTS CO.

MAHWAH, N.J. (2/01/08) - Electronic payments industry veteran Marc G. Sczesnak has been named president of Shoppers Charge Accounts Co. (SCA), a division of TD Banknorth. He replaces Thomas Nelson, who has retired after leading the private label credit card company for 23 years.

Sczesnak brings more than 25 years of experience in the electronic payment industry to his new role as chief executive for the bank’s Mahwah-based division, which operates private label credit card programs for retailers in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.

Prior to joining TD Banknorth, he served as senior vice president-marketing and media services at Federated Department Stores, where he spearheaded efforts to convert over 50 million cardholder accounts to the Macy’s brand while also growing the company’s gift card business. Previously, he served as vice president-credit card products at Sears, where he was responsible for launching the Sears Gold MasterCard – the largest gold card credit program in the country.

Sczesnak, who is in the process of relocating to northern New Jersey from Barrington, Ill., earned  an MBA in 1981 and an undergraduate degree in 1979, both from Fordham University.  A native of Sea Cliff, N.Y., he graduated from North Shore High School in 1975.
